Ipswich School has a fine reputation for its music, writing, debating, art, design technology and drama and there is a wealth of extra-curricular opportunities in these areas to supplement classroom activity. Our pupils have immense potential and we believe that it is our job to give them opportunities to create and perform, publish or exhibit their work, whether they are beginners or experienced performers or artists.
The atmosphere in the school is very supportive of the arts; there are opportunities for whole year groups to be involved in concerts and plays, and as pupils grow older and their interests become more specialised it is a pleasure to see the way in which they engage happily in both sport and music, in both science and drama. They are encouraged to attend dance or drama clubs and to have music or speech and drama lessons. A strong lead is given by the staff, many of whom support the specialists, making it possible to put on a rich programme of events for every age group. We encourage all our pupils to take a few risks in order to explore their creativity and it is our aim that for many, an Ipswich School education will implant a life-long love of the arts.
