In one of his final engagements of the year, Mayor of Ipswich Councillor John Le Grys visited Ipswich School this week to thank two pupils for their musical performance at the Mayor’s Ball.
Robyn Hawley from Year 13 and Ellie Moore from Year 12, both members of the school’s Flute Ensemble, played a number of flute duets, along with musicians from other local schools, to welcome people to the Ball at the Corn Exchange.
They were both presented with certificates by the Mayor to thank them for their contribution to the night. He said: “I was very pleased to have the musicians there, and they made a huge impression. All the young people were incredibly competent young professionals.”
Headmaster Nicholas Weaver said: “We were delighted to welcome the Mayor to the school at the end of his Mayoral year as we had welcomed him to our Speech Day at the start of his year of office. We are always pleased when our pupils have the opportunity to play music at public events, and well done to Robyn and Ellie for their very professional performance.”
