We also have a range of publications available for purchase including the recently published 'Ipswich School - A History in Photographs'.
Details of all publications are listed below:
A Famous Antient Seed-Plot of Learning - The school history written by Irvine Gray and Bill Potter in 1950 has long been out of print. In 2003 the school published a new and fully illustrated history with the title A Famous Antient Seed-Plot of Learning. This is a quotation from John Leman, boy, usher and master of the school who, on dismissal by the radical borough authorities in 1608, squatted in Felaw's House, so that the school had to be given better accommodation in the former refectory of the Blackfriars. He pursued his campaign to recover the school's endowments, achieving total success and a pension for life in 1620. The new history has separate chapters for each headmaster up to Ian Galbraith, and is available for £17.50.
The Town Library and Catalogue - Since 1980 the ancient Town Library of Ipswich has returned to the care of the headmasters who cared for it from 1614 until the 1830s. A fully illustrated History and Catalogue of the collection was published in 1989 at £29.50, but a few copies remain at only £12.50.
A Century of Cricket 1885-1985 by Roderick Clayton OI gives an illustrated account of matches with Norwich School. It is available for £2.50.
The Ipswich School Corps 1889-1989 an illustrated account by David Warnes is also £2.50.
The Chapels and Music of Ipswich School was published last October at the time of the President's Concert in St Peter's Church, Ipswich, the former chapel of the Cardinal College of St Mary in Ipswich. Richard Wilson unearthed a great deal of the school's musical history over the last 500 years. It is fully illustrated in colour and costs £5.00.
Ipswich School A History in Photographs published this autumn available at a special price of £9.95 for Old Ipswichians. On 144pp the best of the fine collection of photographs in the archives will be illustrated after restoration (necessary in some cases) with full captions by the joint authors, Stuart Grimwade and John Blatchly.
Ipswich School in Watercolour - Aswell as the publications we also have some splendid paintings/watercolours of the School, these are available for purchase framed or unframed and would make lovely gifts for any OI. Please get in touch for further details.
