 Careers

The Old Ipswichian Club is working on an exciting initiative developing a careers programme, working in conjunction with the School for the benefit of current pupils and recent leavers.

It has long been recognised that the OI membership represents an extraordinary wealth of experience, knowledge and contacts which can provide a huge, and beneficial resource to pupils and OIs coming into the jobs market for the first time.

The careers initiative was launched in September 2009 with a lunchtime talk to Lower sixth pupils by OI Will Sambrook.  The aim of the talk was to get the pupils thinking about which direction they might want to go in, not an easy task at 17.

Since then we have further developed the programme to supplement the careers advice currently offered to pupils.   Our Old Ipswichians are assisting the School by offering general and specific career advice, career talks, mentoring, and the all important work placements.   We are grateful to those Old Ipswichians who have very kindly offered both their expertise and time to the programme so far which has got the initiative off to a great start.

We need more Old Ipswichians to get involved to enable our offering to be across all sectors of business and expertise, so do get in touch to see how you can help, your participation is essential for the success of the programme.

If you are able to offer assistance to the programme, please get in touch with William Coe via oldipswichians@ipswich.suffolk.sch.uk or 01473 298961.
