Our Nursery children develop personal skills and learn through free play and structured activity

 Foundation Stage

In the Nursery and Reception Classes, the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum is followed and this is organised into six areas of learning:

  • personal, social and emotional development
  • communication, language and literacy
  • problem-solving, reasoning and numeracy
  • knowledge and understanding of the world
  • physical development
  • creative development

The children are taught by well-qualified staff who care for them as individuals and aim to meet their needs so that they can develop their full potential.  Children learn through a range of first-hand experiences.  There are dedicated areas for art, water and sand, role play and a designated area for outdoor play.  Both Nursery and Reception children have PE lessons during the week and Reception children have one swimming lesson a week in the school's indoor pool.  Music is taught throughout the Foundation Stage by specialist teachers.
